Order update: May 28, 2025. Policy reviewed: September 30, 2026.

Full standard CFT only; medical partial tests and recruit-specific administration are excluded. Altitude tables apply at or above 4,500 ft after the prescribed acclimatization; ammunition lifts have no altitude adjustment. Official graders determine recorded results.

Scoring Source And Known Table Conflict

The official PDF host blocked downloads. These tables were transcribed from a mirrored copy of the Marine Corps order and cross-checked against official published guidance. Female age 31–35 altitude MANUF results from 5:06–5:52 require grader review because table 3-7 prints conflicting values. This tool withholds automatic scoring for that range.

Scoring Source And Known Table Conflict

The scoring tables on this page follow MCO 6100.13A with Administrative Change 5. One range requires grader review: Table 3-7 prints conflicting values for female age 31–35 altitude Maneuver Under Fire results from 5:06 to 5:52, so this tool withholds automatic scoring for that range. Ask your grader or the Marine Corps Human Performance Branch, the point of contact listed in MARADMIN 613/25, which value applies.

Use this USMC CFT calculator to convert your Movement to Contact time, ammo can lifts, and Maneuver Under Fire time into event points. Review your total, event minimums, and classification using the applicable age and sex scoring tables.

How To Use The USMC CFT Calculator

Start with your recorded results from the Marine Corps Combat Fitness Test. This free CFT calculator helps you review performance; your administered assessment determines the official result.

  1. Choose your age bracket and applicable sex category. Some tools label the category “gender”; check that the selected column matches your assessment.
  2. Enter your MTC duration in minutes and seconds.
  3. Enter the accepted number of ammunition lifts completed in two minutes.
  4. Enter the recorded MANUF time, including any grader-applied adjustments.
  5. Calculate your result and review all three event scores before interpreting the total.

Enter 3:15 for three minutes and 15 seconds. Decimal 3.15 minutes represents a different time. Enter repetitions in the lift field, not pounds or seconds.

If the calculator offers an optional altitude setting, select it only when the applicable testing rules authorize that scoring. Do not assume the tool automatically recognizes your test location.

What Is The USMC Combat Fitness Test?

The assessment measures physical capabilities associated with operational tasks and combat readiness. Its three events are MTC, AL, and MANUF. Each contributes up to 100 points, for a maximum of 300 points.

The event instructions, score charts, and administration requirements are in MCO 6100.13A with Administrative Change 5. This page summarizes the scoring to help you review results, and it does not replace the order. Consult the official Marine Corps order for the full protocol and the relevant USMC standards.

The Three Marine CFT Events

Movement To Contact

MTC is an 880-yard timed run over a measured, reasonably level course. It is performed in the prescribed uniform, including boots. A track or other approved measured surface can be used; a treadmill result does not reproduce the administered event.

The metric equivalent of 880 yards is approximately 804.7 meters. An 800-meter practice run is shorter, so label it correctly when comparing run times.

Enter the complete finish time. For a practice comparison, record the surface, course layout, and conditions alongside the result.

Ammunition Lift

The ammunition lift uses a 30-pound can and a two-minute repetition window. Enter the number of accepted overhead lifts. The monitor determines whether each repetition satisfies the movement requirement.

A lighter can or incomplete extension can make a practice count misleading. Keep equipment and counting consistent when measuring progress.

The can’s weight establishes the test condition; it is not the calculator input. A count of 80 accepted repetitions should be entered as 80, not 30.

Maneuver Under Fire

MANUF is a 300-yard shuttle combining a sprint, crawls, casualty movement, ammo can carry, grenade throw, and prescribed push-ups. Its structure tests several movements in sequence rather than a straight run.

Use the final recorded time for scoring. Under the order, a successful grenade throw subtracts five seconds, while a miss adds five seconds. For example, an elapsed 2:42 with a hit becomes a recorded 2:37.

Do not subtract the adjustment again if your monitor already included it. If a tool accepts unadjusted time and a separate throw result, follow that input method instead. The same adjustment must be applied once.

See Chapter 3 of the Marine PFT/CFT order for event administration and recording instructions.

USMC CFT Passing Score And Classification

Passing requires at least 150 total points and the minimum performance in every event. Meeting three 40-point event minimums produces only 120 points, leaving another 30 to earn.

ClassificationTotal Points
1st Class235–300
2nd Class200–234
3rd Class150–199
Below the passing totalBelow 150

A classification tier describes the total only when all events pass. A first class total cannot compensate for a failed event. Check Table 3-1 for event requirements and Table 3-2 for classification in the governing order.

Age Groups And Scoring Categories

The standard age groups are 17–20, 21–25, 26–30, 31–35, 36–40, 41–45, 46–50, and 51+. Select the appropriate category for the assessment being scored.

One exception matters for recruit results: the order uses the 17–20 category for all recruits, regardless of actual age. Officer candidates and the other student populations identified in the order use their individual age categories.

Scoring thresholds vary by age and sex. A training target copied from another person may therefore earn different points for you.

Marine CFT Minimums And Maximums For Ages 21–25

This example uses standard, non-altitude tables for ages 21–25. It is not a universal threshold for all personnel.

EventMale MinimumMale 100 PointsFemale MinimumFemale 100 Points
MTC3:452:384:413:13
AL67 repetitions115 repetitions30 repetitions74 repetitions
MANUF3:182:044:342:45

For timed events, shorter times represent better performance. For lifts, a higher accepted count represents better performance. Verify intermediate values in Tables 3-3, 3-4, and 3-5; do not interpolate points from these endpoints.

The age provisions and thresholds above come from Chapter 3 of the Marine fitness testing order.

Marine CFT Standards By Age: Men

These are the standard (non-altitude) tables. Each cell shows the 100-point performance, then the minimum performance. Shorter times are better for MTC and MANUF; a higher count is better for AL.

How Your Combat Fitness Test Score Is Calculated

The calculation converts raw performance into points before adding the results:

Total = MTC points + AL points + MANUF points.

Do not add run times to repetitions. Keep original measurements with your calculated output so you can trace an unexpected result back to its input.

These hypothetical point distributions illustrate the passing checks:

Event PointsTotalInterpretation
40 + 40 + 40120Event minimums met, total too low
50 + 50 + 50150Third class if all movements and event requirements are satisfied
80 + 75 + 80235First class if every event passes
100 + 100 + 39239Fails because one event is below its minimum

These examples explain scoring logic; they are not prescribed training targets.

Altitude Scoring And Recorded Times

The order addresses testing at 4,500 feet or higher, including acclimatization requirements and separate MTC and MANUF tables. There is no altitude compensation for AL.

Check the applicable tables with your administrator before comparing results. A tool supporting only standard conditions cannot establish an altitude-adjusted result.

Do not invent a time allowance or change the course distance to compensate. Use the authorized method for the test performed. Tables 3-6 and 3-7 in the Marine order address altitude scoring.

PFT Vs. Marine CFT

The Physical Fitness Test includes a pull-up or push-up option, plank, and 3-mile run, with authorized exceptions. Those measurements belong in the PFT tool, not this three-event assessment.

Use the USMC PFT calculator to review that separate fitness test score. Keep both results in your training log without combining their points into one classification.

The 2026 combat-arms PFT change introduces male age-normed scoring and a 210-point requirement for designated PMOSs. MARADMIN 613/25 applies that change to PFT scoring only, so it should not be copied into this tool as a new CFT passing rule without an applicable directive. See also the Marine Corps announcement of updated fitness standards.

Marine CFT Vs. Army Combat Field Test

The shared abbreviation describes different assessments. This page calculates Marine event points. The Army assessment uses seven consecutive events and cumulative elapsed time.

If your inputs include mile-run splits, sandbag lifts, and water-can carries, use the Army CFT calculator instead. Keep that single-time assessment separate from this points total.

Testing Cycle And Medical Restrictions

The normal Marine testing cycle places the CFT between July 1 and December 31. Unit schedules and authorized exceptions determine when an individual assessment is conducted.

Medical restrictions, pregnancy or postpartum provisions, partial assessments, and exemptions require the applicable medical and command process. A full-test calculator cannot authorize participation or establish an exempt outcome.

Do not enter zero for an event you were not authorized to perform. Confirm the correct recording procedure with your administrator and consult the Marine testing order.

How To Use Your Result For Training

Save a baseline score with the accepted times and lift count. Include a short note on course conditions and equipment so the next comparison has useful context.

Address any failed event before chasing a competitive total. Once every event passes, identify the remaining points needed for your personal goal.

Change one calculator input at a time to explore a realistic target. This helps you work efficiently by connecting a proposed performance improvement to its points rather than guessing.

For training, discuss the following priorities with a Force Fitness Instructor:

  • MTC: pace control and repeatable speed work.
  • AL: muscular endurance, accepted technique, and appropriate repetition volume.
  • MANUF: movement efficiency, safe casualty handling, and transitions under fatigue.

Use a balanced conditioning plan rather than making every session a maximal assessment. HPRC’s military training guidance explains why preparation should include strength, endurance, speed, and progression.

CFT Results And Body Composition

A result on this page does not calculate body composition. Use the applicable Marine policy to review that separate requirement.

The Marine Corps replaced its height and weight screening with a waist-to-height ratio standard of 0.52, effective January 1, 2026 (MARADMIN 066/26, signed February 26, 2026). The message lists the maximum waist for each height, so use that table instead of rounding the ratio yourself. A Marine who exceeds the standard moves to a body fat evaluation.

The Marine Corps release also explains the allowance for high fitness scores: Marines who score 285 or higher on both the PFT and the CFT may be allowed up to 26 percent body fat (men) or 36 percent (women) before being assigned to the Body Composition Program. Review that policy with your unit rather than treating a high fitness total as an unconditional exemption.

Read the Marine Corps body-composition update for those requirements. MARADMIN 358/26 covers how body composition data is recorded in MCTIMS.

Common Marine CFT Calculator Mistakes

  • Choosing the wrong age or sex column.
  • Typing a 3:15 MTC time as 3.15, which is read as 3 minutes and 9 seconds.
  • Using an 800-meter practice time as an 880-yard result.
  • Entering can weight instead of accepted repetitions.
  • Applying a grenade adjustment twice.
  • Selecting standard tables for an assessment requiring altitude tables.
  • Assuming every additional repetition earns exactly one point.
  • Reading a 239-point total as a pass when one event is below 40 points.
  • Entering PFT measurements or Army event splits.
  • Calling an online estimate an official record.

When results disagree, compare one event at a time with the official scoring table. Check each input in detail before changing your training target.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is This An Official Marine Calculator?

No. This independent tool helps review recorded performance. Your monitor and unit recording process determine the official assessment.

What Is A Passing Marine CFT Result?

At least 150 points overall, with every event meeting its minimum. The minimum-only example above shows why event passes alone do not establish an overall pass.

What Is The Maximum Total?

The maximum is 300 points. Performance beyond an event’s maximum threshold does not add extra points above that event’s cap.

How Do I Reach First Class?

Reach at least 235 while passing all events. Set individual targets using your applicable scoring column rather than copying another person’s plan.

Does This Tool Include Pull-Ups Or Planks?

No. Those are PFT inputs. Use the USMC PFT calculator for that assessment.

Which MANUF Time Should I Enter?

Enter the adjusted recorded time unless the calculator explicitly asks for raw time and the grenade result separately. Follow one method so the adjustment is not repeated.

Can I Track Progress Without An Official Test?

Yes. Label practice results and record comparable conditions. Practice data helps planning but does not become an official result through an online calculation.

Is A Class Result The Same As A Personnel Decision?

No. A calculator estimates event points and classification. Promotion, retention, medical eligibility, and administrative decisions require the applicable official process.
